Pancake Breakfast
Got to school at about 4:50
to help with the pancake breakfast. When I got to the Social Science hall it was Isabel, Jim Wagner and Sheri, but no other SS department members. We got working and finally everyone started trickling in. However Keith finally arrived at 6:30 and all was well. By the time it was all finished they figured they took in over $1000. Everyone pitched in and it was all a great success

First period: Great participation
All but about seven kids scored the 100 participation points necessary to be able to not take the vocab test. And a whole bunch scored every possible participation point which meant they dressed up on every dress up days and worked each of the four hall sessions.

Hall Viewing

A
gain I was stuck supervising the line for the Senior Hall. There were only three of us. Me, Kenyon and Mike Gordon. Kenyon disappeared in the crowd. Gordon was nowhere to be found and luckily Jay and Neil came out to help. I have done this same job for three or more years and I hate it. First they need to rotate jobs-you shouldn't have to do the same things over and over. But more importantly if you want to properly supervise the line to stop cutters you need a minimum if 5-7 teachers to do it. Three just leads to frustration. I told myself I wasn't going to get worked up hassling kids, but as soon as they started cutting I had to do something. The worst was the confrontation I had with a sophomore football player who would not get out of line when I caught him cutting. I was getting ready to suspend him when he sort of cooperated. I have not felt that disrespected by a kid in a long time.
I actually snuck away and saw the senior, junior, and sophomore halls. No doubt the junior hall was the best.
While we were standing around during the end of the hall viewing period Kim came by and said something was going on down at the gym and when we got there we found a bunch of kids sucking helium from the unsupervised helium cylinders.

The Rally: A Moment of Chaos and the Juniors Win
I hooked back up with Christine after second period and we were standing at the back of the gym as the rally was set to begin.
Apparently the entire senior class had gathered near the band room and they waited to make a grand entrance after everyone else was seated. Apparently when they came in the junior football players got up and soon there was a huge confrontation in the middle of the gym floor. Kim got pushed, Michele was grabbing kids, Jennifer Dumas got stepped on. It was pandemonium! It took Chief Fears on the mic to get it settled down and then Vera talked and the rally went on.
The cheerleaders cheered, the dance team danced, the soccer and football teams got introduced, the hip hop team did their thing, the underclass royalty were crowned (go Becca and Jeff), the senior royalty were introduced and finally they announced the bleacher poster and hall winners. For some winning the bleacher poster contest and not the halls was more important to a lot of them, so they were happy to win the poster and not that upset that they got second to the juniors on the hall. We were a little concerned that something might break loose when the announcement was made so the teachers gathered around both groups and kept them in line. The juniors had rigged up a tarp and pulleys that they were going to hoist at sometime during the rally that said "Junior Nation." Somehow they redid the posted and they did raise it and it said "Good Job Seniors." At the end everyone seemed to be chanting "Go Cougars." So apparently we had avoided any huge battle at the end.

Lunch: Egg Salad Sandwiches, a tradition
Christine, Shannon Pierce and I went up to social science and had an egg salad sandwich with the huge group that had gathered after the pancake breakfast. We to get ours before Enzo ate all that was left. It is a long standing tradition that they boil eggs during the pcb and then make sandwiches at lunch. I think it grew out of always having eggs left over.

Yearbook: It's a Grind Coffee Drinks
Ariel Raudez's parents own "It's a Grind" on Cirby and her mom offered to come and make us coffee drinks on the day of homecoming
. She spent all period making everyone whatever they wanted. it was really fun.

We also tried to debrief the events of the rally with the entire class but only with limited success.

Pregame Maneuvering
I wanted to be sure we had seats for the crowning especially if Gary and Peggy came so I got down to
school and set up for chairs on the south side of the berm at the beginning of the JV game. Gary and Peggy and Christine did make it right after half time so it was all good. It had started to sprinkle so I was praying that it would at least hold off until after the parade.

The Parade
I went in and saw the girls waiting in the gm as it had started raining just a bit.

Senior Princesses: Alexa Novak, Tori Edlow, Emily Fox, Zoe Jordan, Amanda Cardoza

The JV game ended and the parade began. What a blessing that it was barely sprinkling.

Sweet car, strange man. What is this Grand Marshall thing all about anyway?!

The Game
from SacBee.com
C.J. Castro ran for a 35-yard touchdown with 2:52 to play, then intercepted a pass with 35 seconds to go to preserve No. 8 Del Campo's 13-9 win over No. 20 Woodcreek on Friday night in Fair Oaks.

The game was a defensive battle as Del Campo (4-0) recovered three fumbles and made two interceptions, and the Timberwolves (2-2) forced seven Cougars fumbles, three of which Woodcreek recovered.

Tommy Murphy's 27-yard field goal with 4:24 to go in the third quarter gave Woodcreek a 9-6 lead.

It marked the second week in a row that Del Campo rallied to win. Last week, Castro scored on a five-yard run with 23 seconds left to beat No. 14 Ponderosa 19-14.
